Armed terrorist stormed the Orsu Obodo neighbourhood in the Oguta Local Government Area LGA of Imo State on Thursday,25th May 2023, fatally ended the life of His Royal Highness (HRH) Eze Victor Ijioma, the community ruler of the targeted community, which brought about tension and terror in the region after the inhabitants lost their supreme ruler.
To make matters more complicated,Isama of Mgbele, the traditional prime minister of the Mgbele neighbourhood, was also murdered in cold blood within the same Oguta local government area LGA by another set of gun-toting individuals.
Following the information obtained by local news reporters, the two prominent figures were sent to their graves on the same day, precisely on Thursday,25th May 2023 but at different locations when the gunmen stormed the region in numbers.
When contacted, some credible sources within the community narrated that, the traditional ruler of the Orsu Obodo was murdered as he was driving his vehicle at Umuamaka Junction in the town of Izombe, which is not to far from his own kingdom.
One of the informants went on to say that the assailants, who were apparently not contented with the way they killed him, went as far as burning his dead body along with his vehicle while they watched the deceased burnt beyond recognition
On the other hand, it was divulged that the leader of the Mgbele community passed away in his own hometown after being assaulted by bloodthirsty assassins.
Another eyewitness claimed that,a joint squad of soldiers and police officers were deployed to the affected community;Izombe, Mgbele, as well as other settlements with the sole purpose of hunting down the perpetrators of the dastard act,who have currently gone into hiding after accomplishing their evil missions.
Shedding more light on the tragic occurrence, another local recalled that when the Eze Igwe of Orsu Obodo was travelling in the afternoon near Umuakama Junction, he was fiercely confronted by unknown individuals who ended his life in a horrible manner.
“They shot him, lit him on fire in his car, and then they fled the scene.Soldiers and other security personnel are actively searching the villages for the attackers as I speak to you”, the source noted.
In the meantime, all attempts by members of the press to get a response from the public relations officer (PPRO),Henry Okoye, the correspondent for the Imo state police command were unsuccessful despite numerous efforts to get in touch with him through his official line.
